I love to take classes. I might even be addicted to it. I’ve written about the MATS class I am taking right now and I’ll be posting soon about my first week, but I am also a member over at Skillshare. Skillshare offers a ton of free classes but you can also get a membership to their site which allows for unlimited class taking! Woo! Perfect for me. If something comes up and I need to know how to do it, pop over to Skillshare and chances are they have a class for it! (See below for how to get a free month.)
Such was the case yesterday when I was looking for how to do illustration in Photoshop. Usually I do my doodles freehand or directly in Illustrator, but for creating some more artsy stuff, I have heard that Photoshop is better, especially for capturing textures and such. In this week’s MATS topic we’re doing something a bit different (for me) and have been challenged to try something new, so I thought I’d give drawing in Photoshop a try. I headed over to Skillshare and found the class Illustration in Photoshop: Professional Work From Your Sketches and it looked like just what I needed. Because I’m a member, I was able to take the class immediately – and it’s quick! In under an hour I was able to watch the videos and learn some new skills!
Each class on Skillshare has a project or assignment associated with it. For this class, the project is to illustrate your pet according to the techniques you learn in the class. Well, I don’t have a pet right now so I chose a photo of a seal I took at the zoo last year. Here you can see my photo, my initial sketch done in Photoshop and my final illustration.
What do you think? Not sure what I’ll do with it yet. Any ideas?
If you’d like to check out Skillshare, you can click on this link to sign up and get a free month! If you love learning as much as I do, I’m sure you’ll love it too!
I admit it. I am a font junkie. I don’t know what it is or where it came from, but I love fonts. And if you follow my designs, you know that I love to use different fonts all the time. I especially love script fonts, clean swoops, painty brushstrokes, handwriting… love them all! I thought I’d share a few of my recent favorite finds with you today. (Maybe you’re just as addicted as I am?)
Aren’t these fabulous fonts? I don’t own any of these… yet! But I want them. I can see some lovely word art with these! If you can’t resist, click on the images to be taken to their sale page at Creative Market. I also have a For The Love of Fonts Pinterest board if you’re interested in what other fonts I love!
I want to thank everyone who voted for me in the fabric contest last week. I came in tied for 22nd place! Out of over 300 entries! WOW! I am so thrilled. If you would like to see who won, you can check out this post right here. Also, my design, as well as my previous contest entries, are now for sale in my Spoonflower shop!
